Multiple level-specific classes are held throughout the week consisting of lessons, assignments, and small projects based on a curriculum aimed at conversational fluency.

Monthly Immersion Workshops


Face-to-face immersion workshops in Kona and Waimea allow students to consistently immersed in a supporting educational environment full of fellow learners and speakers.

Level-specific Learning


Kahoʻolau offers four levels of classes, affording complete beginners, as well as those with previous experience a place to learn.

Weekly Zoom Classes

8 week long, level-specific classes meet 2-3 times a week. Classes consist of lessons, assignments, and small projects based on a curriculum aimed at conversational fluency. Lessons on the language are intertwined with contemporary and traditional cultural knowledge, giving students both the ability to speak the language, and the cultural knowledge to use it.

 

Monthly Immersion Workshops

Face-to-face immersion workshops allow students to, from the beginning of their study, be consistently immersed in a supporting educational environment full of fellow learners and speakers. The workshops consist of cultural and linguistic activities, such as cultural protocols, lessons in traditional crafts, educational games and fun competitions, as well as time for students to converse and socialize in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi. Workshops are held in Waimea and Kona.
